Tagalog verbs are combinations of root word + affixes. In order to change the focus or inflection, these are added either before, after or between the root word. The four inflections are: basic, future, perfective and imperfective. The 6 foci are: Actor, Object, Benefactive, Locative, Instrumental and Causative. In different situations and settings, there is a certain way to use a word. Please familiarize yourself with this.

There are more affixes that one should learn to be conversant in the Tagalog language. If added to a root word, it will change the meaning to that of a noun, verb, adverb, adjective...etc.A good cheap source is: Panganiban, Jose Villa. 1969. Concise English-Tagalog Dictionary. Tokyo, Japan: Charles E. Tuttle Co, Inc.

There are some useful programs and files for the use of Tagalog in the downloads section in the menu to the right.
